About Us
CFACE (Chester Countians For A Clean Environment) is a 501c3,
nonprofit community group formed to ensure that Chester County, PA
remains a beautiful, clean, quiet and safe place.
The
volunteer non-profit organization was formed officially in 2004 to
resist a large proposed
substrate producing operation on the DuBosq farm
on Guernsey Road. Many in the group had been engaged in previous
community efforts to resist inappropriate development that included
a racetrack in a residential area, an open air infectious waste
incinerator, an improperly situated water tower, and others.
CFACE is committed to promoting open space and preserving farm
operations as the most effective means for protecting the local air
and water quality above and below the surface. It seeks to broaden
the understanding and awareness of the challenges of farming today
in the effort to keep it integral to the fabric of the long standing
character of our area. CFACE is a friend of farming and a willing
champion for a clean environment.
Initially CFACE’s efforts had been focused on resisting two
large-scale substrate production operations in separate locations on
Guernsey Road. The non-profit is now developing programs for
farmland preservation, raising the awareness of farming challenges,
and designing workshops for smaller scale environmental efforts like
beekeeping and composting. CFACE is administered by a volunteer Board of Directors and all funds are raised through donations and fundraising events.
